Don't Shutter when you need windows
Lets look at your
windows. Some windows have one thickness of glass in the frame and some
have two. It is put in there as layers with an air gap between the
panes. Then they are sealed with a rubber gasket as a unit
and installed into a frame. That adds insulating valve to that area of wall or ceiling. It
keeps the heat and cold out better than one single pane of glass.
What type of
Replacement Windows are out there?
They now come in vinyl
window frames, steel windows, wood windows and aluminum window frames.
They can be installed after cutting out the inside of the old windows.
The new replacement window will fit over that old frame. There
are also Clad windows!
Do I Buy Trim also
The new
replacement windows normally will also have their own vinyl trim around
them and is sealed when done right from the elements with silicon
caulk.
You will even notice some savings on your utility bills after having the
replacement windows installed. They are not a luxury any more. they are
a necessary part of your home. Better health also with all the smog in
the air today! They seal better too! Replacement
Windows come in a variety of types and colors to choose from. If it is
important to you to use your existing trim, that is also possible with
the right type of insert windows. Just let the estimator know what you
would prefer.
How
Long will it Take
On
a Normal install you are looking at about one to two days for three guys
after the work has begun. But it is well worth the time!

They are
doing it and so can you!

They
also are not just a pane.
They come in two pane glass or plastic
also and well worth the extra expense. Some even open up to vent out the
heat up near your ceiling. Less time you have to run your air conditioner!
How
long does this process take

For
a standard installation or a normally sized home they will com
out and measure the window sizes to go in. Then they will give you a
price and order them to be made. When the replacement windows are
ready, they pick them up and deliver too. When the crew shows up they will
cut out the old windows but leave the frame on most installations. If
you already have wood windows they sometime take out the whole
window. That will depend on what type of window you previously had.
Installing
the New Replacement Windows
The
crew will put the new replacement windows in that opening and
adjust it to level and plumb as possible depending on your home
situation. It the opening is sitting crooked and they place the window
with the level plane, sometimes it actually looks crooked when it
is not. So they will tell you that it is out of level for this reason
but to the eye if you stand back it looks better and straight.
They
will now screw it into the opening after applying silicon caulk to
the back side of the trim that goes flat up against your homes wall.
Sometime
they will have to replace your window sill because of certain width
problems or they might have to build out the opening such as at a brick
or stone wall installation. That will be disclosed at the time of signing
the contract though.
