Some INVENTIVE Home improvement ideas

Floor Tile, Slate Tile, Ceramic tile, Granite Tile, Decorative Tile & More

Mexican Pavers

These Satios are made in Mexico from clay and fired but not glazed. You can get them with rounded corners or square. The rounded ones give the area a sfter look. The tiles were pre-sealed with paver seal 3 times and allowed to dry for 2 hours each time. They were installed with thin set mortar and then grouted. High gloss sealer and top coat were applied to finish

Sliding door replacement!

Top of the line Anderson double french glass doors with stainable wood panels on the inside. The exterior of the pair of doors is metal clad and pretty much weather proof. The grids are inside between the glass panels for easy cleaning. The doors come with a double locking system by pulling up on the handle for great security.

Earth Slate

Slate Fire Place on a 14 foot tall wall is warm and inviting to the eye! A nice upgrade to a rather drab original wall that had a few tile around it. Those were talen off and the Slate in a Mud bed were added. The hearth was also done in the earth Slate and is even with the carpeting which will be replace also with a neutral color that will make this slate shine for years to come!

Top of Fire Place

The slate tiles are place in a 3/4" mortar bed for strength and long life with wire and 30lb felt over wall. This is so wonderful to look at in the sunlight during the morning hours. there are lots of fun patterns to watch as they show you pictures as if they were painted on the wall. The textures are worth the touch also on this natural stone. It is well worth the time!

Entry Arbor

This Redwood Arbor was built to keep the early morning sunlight out of the entryway. It was really bright, and warm, but the homeowner could not see the paper to read it. This Arbor took care of the problem at the front of the house and makes a nice impovement to this stuning home. They should have maney wonderful relaxing cups of coffee with just enough sunlight to warm their toes.

File Cabinet Desk

Two file cabinets. put them up to 8' apart. Rip 1 piece of plywood( oak, maple, Birch, or even Melinine) put on top with a 1 x 2 screwed to the wall under the back edge. Always check the wall to make sure there are no wires or plumbing etc. inside first. Then stain or paint the top. Put 1x2 on the edge to cover the plywood look. You now have a new desk with files!

Old Vanity

This is the Vanity before the re-do. what a difference. Saved a lot of money and the color can be changed any time they feel like a new color. New lights and wall paint made for an overall trend setting style.

Vanity

This was an old scared up vanity. The cost of cabinets is very high these days. The owner came up with the idea of sanding and painting it instead. The counter was tiled with 10 x 13 porcilin tiles and the grout was just a little darker. New faucet and paper holder. New brushed nickle knobs to finish the look.

Make your own paneling

Get a full sheet or more of hardwood 3/16" X 1/4" ply. Clamp a good eight foot straight edge to it length wise to route in a "V" groove. Stain or paint any color you wish or match a piece you needed to extend a wall, cut out a piece for an old window etc. cover with a semi gloss clear. Glue and tack nail to wall for a niece finished look.

Bathroom Designs

Bathroom self rimming china sink with deco star design tile cut for the edge. Little square tile inserted to make a nice accent. 2" edge bull nose with new faucets. backsplash with same tile and just a little darker grout to finish it off. New stain on the cabinet. Brightens it all up!

Bath Sink

A friend of mine had this wonderful french antique dresser. We cut in the drain. Had to modify the two side drawers to fit around it, and then placed the bowl type sink on top. Install tile backer board on it . Then thinsetted tile in mortar to that. New faucet set and finished it off with floor tile. The colors are different but all in the same platte and seem to go together very well.

Fountain in Court

This was a nice court yard but with all the original plants and bar-b-que it made it a bit cramped. The owner took out the plants and some brick that had been part of a walkway. We put in 16 x16" tile in a nice Mission color that spiced up the area. The fountain really finished it off!

Finished piece.

A customer had cut out an old piece of paneling for a wall A/C unite which she later removed. The problem was they didn't make the same paneling any more. So I matched it with a scrap she had, and took some pictures of the wall. Had a paint company match the stain for me. Then made the matching grooves, stained it and put it on the area that was missing.

Wet bar replacement

An old wet bar was removed and a large hole needed to be filled. So we made a cabinet out of oak for wine glasses and storage below. The glass holders are made from 2" x3/8" oak with a 3/4 x 3/4" piece centered like an up side down "T" to hold the base. The shelves are removable for cleaning. This customer also has a wine cellar.

Wainscott wall

Homeowner wanted a new look for her 60-70's bath. We added wainscott panels pre-primed and ready for finish coat. Put chair rail trim at the top and baseboard at the bottom. Pedistal sink with tilt mirror she bought online made the look of a 1930"s bath which is what area this home was built in. She had a vision of it and it worked out well.

This is top of the line

This double door set was in place of the existing sliding glass door that was originally there. It has metal cladding on the outside and inside grid. They are between the glass for easy cleaning of the windows. The inside surface of the doors are wood and can be stain to match trim or cabinets.

Deco tile

These home owners wanted to spice up their kitchen. So we cut out the old deco tiles and put in new one that were the same size. It was like having a new kitchen counter top. New grout and sealer of course perk it all up. What a easy fix to an old situation.

Vanity change!

The Vanity and old tile top in a beautiful home had seen better days. So out it came. The owner order new cabinets in 3 pieces that were put together. Then new granite tile was laid on top and backsplash. A new faucet set was installed and an extra shelf was made and installed half way up inside the cabinet for the small things.

Saltios

These spanish pavers were sealer before laid with two coats of saltio sealer and then when completed they were only given a coat of matt finish sealer. The owner wanted a natural look for an area she used to work on her plants but still needed it sealed for water resistance. It was a nice warm room in the morning sun.

Deco Tiles

If you have a blah shower with tile that is in good condition, it can be brightened up by taking out some tiles and adding a few decorative tiles, stone, etc. Another way is to change the color of the grout or re-grouting the whole shower, tub or countertop. You can even change directions if you find the right tiles to go with your color schemes.
